Fleece Fabric – Everything You Need To Know

2025.07.07

Fleece, a synthetic fabric born from recycled plastics, was invented in the 1970s by Malden Mills (now Polartec™). Initially designed for outdoor gear, it revolutionized activewear with its warmth, softness, and quick-dry properties. Today, it’s a go-to for everything from yoga pants to baby blankets.

Fun fact: Polartec™ fleece is so effective that it’s used in NASA spacesuits and Arctic expedition gear. Whether you’re wearing a fleece jacket or using a fleece blanket, this fabric proves that synthetic materials can be both functional and sustainable (many brands use 100% recycled content).

Organic cotton is regular cotton grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or GMOs—a response to the environmental harm caused by conventional cotton farming (which uses 25% of the world’s insecticides). It’s part of a global movement to reduce agriculture’s carbon footprint, saving 218 billion liters of water annually compared to conventional cotton.
